How will you be altering programming due to Covid-19?

This summer we will wear masks inside, unless eating, when we will social distance when masks are off.  There will be increased sanitizing of shared equipment, and high touch surfaces, in addition to smaller ratios for activities (2 staff: 10 campers),  as well as adherence to strict guidelines for campers showing any signs of sickness with daily health checks, and our drop off/ pick up for parents will minimize contact.

Will my child need to be vaccinated to attend?

We will always follow the Covid-19 Policies and Mandates provided by Peel and Halton Public Health for Summer Day Camps. To date, some of our location hosts require proof of vaccination for everyone in the building from ages 5 and up. We will continue monitor the changing guidelines and adhere to any new policies as required.

Locations that require vaccination proof:  Walton Memorial United Church, Oakville; Lorne Park Baptist Church, Mississauga

What is the cancellation policy for virtual programs?

Any cancellations made 7+ business days from the start of your program, class or camp will result in a full refund less a $10.00 administrative fee per registration.

If you cancel within within 6 or less business days from the start of your program, class or camp, there will be no refunds. You may choose to transfer to another class within the same term or forfeit the cost of the program.

If you cancel 1 or less business days from the start of your program, class or camp, there are NO REFUNDS and NO TRANSFERS permitted.

When will I know you have cancelled programming due to COVID-19?

Our policy for canceling our summer programs will be based upon the lead provided by public health in line with Peel school closures. As the government has extended social distancing measures, relating to school closures, cancellation of any programs falling within the time frames as they are announced. All families who are registered will be contacted directly via email at that time.

Is COOKSMART "nut free"?

Yes, all of our lessons are peanut free.  If your child has any food allergies, please let us know when you register so we can provide safe alternative food substitutions.

I have dietary restrictions, can you accommodate those?

We always strive to include as many people in our classes, regardless of dietary restrictions. We all have to eat and cook! Let us know your concerns and we will do our best to accommodate you. Most classes are vegetarian, and some dairy products may be used.

Why is COOKSMART Vegetarian?

As a nutritionist, I've learned that the key to long term health includes eating more vegetables on a daily basis.  And I don't know about you, but my family could use eating more vegetables!  So by teaching the COOKSMART Kids how to use more vegetables and fruits, my goal is to empower them to have more healthy foods they can make for themselves at home. Long term, the benefits will be better health.

And less meals with meat is better for our planet too!  Working with mainly plant foods is a great win-win!
