C is for COOKIE!

This is our Healthy COOKIE recipe.

Customize it to make your new family favourite!

WET MIXTURE 

2 TBSP butter

1 egg

3/4 cup brown sugar

1/4 cup apple sauce

2 tsp vanilla

1.      Cream butter until soft

2.      Add sugar slowly.

3.      Crack egg into bowl and mix.

4.      Add apple sauce and vanilla. Mix well.

DRY INGREDIENTS

1 cup flour

1 ¼ cup quick oats

½ tsp baking soda

1 tsp baking powder

½ tsp salt

1 tsp cinnamon

1/4 tsp nutmeg (optional)

¼ tsp of cloves (optional) 

1.      Measure out ingredients into bowl.

2.      Mix well without spilling.

3.      Add to Wet mixture.

 FUN STUFF

 

¼ cup raisins or dried cranberries

¼ cup seeds – pumpkin, sunflower

¼ cup walnuts or peanuts

¼ cup chocolate chips

 Measure up to 1 cup of these ingredients.  Add to dough and mix until through all of the dough.

TO BAKE:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees

  2. Prepare cookie sheets with parchment paper.

  3.  Mix all ingredient together.

  4.  Let sit for 10 minutes to allow oats to become moist and to let baking soda and powder fluff up the dough!

  5.  Drop rounded tablespoons on to cookie sheet and flatten just slightly.

  6.  Bake 10-12 minutes until they start to brown on edges.
