Tuna Melts
• Can of tuna (in water)
• Bread, bagel or buns cut in half
• Cheese – cheddar or mozzarella
Flavours: Choose from
• Mayonnaise
• Mustard, relish, or pickles
• Jalapenos
• Green onions
Bright Colours: Choose from
• Tomato
• Celery
• Cucumber
• Carrot
1. Carefully open the tuna, and drain out liquid.
2. Chop up 1-2 TBSP of pickles, jalapenos or green onions finely into tiny pieces. .
3. Mix tuna with 1-3 TBSP of mayonnaise, 2 tsp mustard, 2 tsp relish or pickles,
jalapenos or green onions. Adjust flavour as you like.
4. Cut bright colours into appropriate pieces. Carrots can be grated, celery diced
into small pieces for crunch when mixed in tuna. Tomato or cucumber into slices.
5. Grate cheese, so there is at least 1⁄4 cup per serving.
6. Assemble tuna melts on a baking pan.
7. On each slice of bread or open side of bun, place 1 heaping spoonful of tuna
mixture. Flatten down to edges of bread or bun using a fork.
8. Add bright the colours, and grated cheese on top.
9. Bake at under BROILER for 3 minutes or until the cheese had melted and
bubbles.
